Lincoln Speedway Looking To Carry Early Season Momentum Friday

Ladies Night Featuring $5 Ladies Admission With Five Divisions Of Racing

(Lincoln, IL)  Lincoln Speedway officials are keeping their fingers crossed that racing will continue this coming Friday, May 3rd, despite a wet weather week in Illinois.  Friday’s forecast looks dry so the plan is to race.  It will just be a matter of how wet the grounds are from the previous days.   The night will feature $5 grandstand admission for ladies, in honor of Ladies Night.

The Midwest Big Ten Series Street Stocks will join the regular four classes of racing at the ¼-mile dirt track.  For the Big Ten Series, it will be their second race of the season but the first at Lincoln in 2019.  At the Macon Speedway opener, Monticello, IL’s Darrell Dick claimed the victory.   Fellow veteran, Terry Reed, crossed the line in second, while Nick Macklin, Larry Russell, and Jaret Duff completed the top five.  The track did have a Midwest Stock Car Tour Street Stock event in April, with Jeremy Nichols claiming the win.  This Friday’s event will pay $500 to win.

Last Friday’s 23 Pro Late Models may have been the highest Pro Late Model count in track history.  This year’s two winners, Jake Little of Springfield, IL, and Denny Woodworth, of Mendon, IL, are tied atop the standings.  Edwards, IL driver Chris Morefield is third in the standings, while Cody Maguire, and Roben Huffman are off to solid starts in fourth and fifth.

The DIRTcar Modifieds also came out in big numbers for last weekend’s race, as 21 competitors took the green.  Many time track champion, Brian Lynn, of Mason City, IL, is currently leading the points by just two over New Berlin, IL’s Tommy Sheppard, Jr.  Lynn won on opening night, while Rick Conoyer took last week’s victory.  Austin Lynn is third in points, while Ray Bollinger, and Austin Charron complete the top five.

The Nutech Seed DII Midgets have seen defending point champion, Andy Baugh, find victory lane in each of the first two nights.  Baugh had his work cut out for him last week, as Lincoln, IL’s Bret Tripplett swapped the lead back and forth.  Mark McMahill is second in points, while Brandon Smith, Patrick Ryan, and Jeff Sparks are in the top five.  This week’s Nutech Seed Front Row Challenge is $200 for a driver to give up a top four starting spot and win from the back.

Completing the five divisions of racing will be the DIRTcar Hornets.  Last week, 15 drivers took the green flag for the main event, which went flag-to-flag.  Pekin, IL’s Danny Oates hasn’t won a feature yet, but two top five finishes has him leading the standings.  Eric Vanapeldoorn is second with one win, while David Lauritson, Cook Crawford, and Carter Dart complete the top five.

As previously mentioned, ladies that attend this Friday night’s action will get in for just $5 each on Ladies Night.  For the guys, admission is regular at $15.

Pit gates will open at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, hotlaps are at 6:00, and racing will begin at 7:00.
