Bobby Pierce Bests Castrol® FloRacing Night in America at Lincoln Speedway
Lincoln, Ill. (July 8, 2024) — The Castrol® FloRacing Night in America presented by Kubota hosted the second round of the season on Monday night at Lincoln Speedway, and it was Bobby Pierce who raced to the $20,000 victory in the Graue Buick Chevrolet Showdown.
It was his first miniseries win of the year and his sixth-career Castrol® FloRacing Night in America presented by Kubota triumph.
Brandon Sheppard and Jason Feger set on the front row for the night’s 50-lap finale with Feger pacing the first 12 circuits. The third-starting Pierce slid to the lead on the 13th lap. While the Oakwood, Ill. racer was never seriously threatened once he assumed the point, a great battle for the second position raged for much of the event between Sheppard and Feger with Sheppard ultimately taking sole possession of the spot.
Pierce went on to cross the finish line a dominating 5.276 seconds in front of Sheppard with Feger, 11th-starting Dennis Erb Jr., and Garrett Alberson completing the Top 5.
“Went green there and didn’t really know what that first start was gonna do, then when we got green a second time, that top (line) was there,” Pierce said in Victory Lane. “We got to second pretty quickly and from then on, it was just trying to figure a way around (Jason) Feger, he was driving a heck of a race.
“We’ve had a really busy past few weeks on the road, and my team has been working so tirelessly, and I just can’t thank them and all our sponsors enough for all they do. Overall, it was awesome to get the win and have a great point’s night.”
A strong field of DIRTcar Modified competitors also took to the Illinois oval for their respective 20-lap A-Main. Claypool, IN driver, Zeke McKenzie took the early lead in the feature event but former track champion, Ray Bollinger, of Kewanee, IL started to apply pressure. Bollinger’s move to the highside finally paid off on lap nine when he overtook McKenzie for the lead. At the checkered, Bollinger was followed by McKinney, McKenzie, Charles Hess, and Mike Brooks.
With his podium finish, Jason Feger took the miniseries point lead by three markers over Bobby Pierce with Ricky Thornton Jr., who raced from 20th-to-third in the finale six points removed from the top spot in third. Garrett Alberson, Myles Moos, Spencer Hughes, Daulton Wilson, Tyler Erb, Dennis Erb Jr., and Carson Ferguson round out the Top 10 in the latest standings.
Next on tap for Castrol® FloRacing Night in America presented by Kubota is a visit to Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway on Wednesday, July 24. The miniseries will sanction the fifth annual One For the Road presented by I-Beam Sliding Doors.
