First Of A Kind Tripleheader Show This Sunday At Lincoln

Summer Nationals, USAC National Midgets, & Summit Modified Nationals On Track

(Lincoln, IL) The stars will be shining brightly this Sunday, July 2 at Lincoln Speedway as fans will be treated to a first-ever combination show, featuring the Summer Nationals Hell Tour Late Models, USAC Midget Nationals, and the Summit Modified Nationals.  The Graue Chevrolet Showdown event will truly bring out some of the best in the nation in all three classes of racing.

Heading into this weekend, over 130 different Super Late Model drivers have been a part of the Summer National Hell Tour, a grueling one month series that runs just about every night.  Oakwood, IL driver, Bobby Pierce, who has been the Hell Tour champion the last two years, again leads the standings but he’s feeling pressure this year from veteran and 6-time Summer Nationals champion Billy Moyer and 4-time Summer Nationals champion, Shannon Babb.  Billy Moyer, Jr., and Ryan Unzicker find themselves in the top five in this year’s standings.

For the first time ever, the USAC Midget National Championship series will be racing at Lincoln.  It’s also the first time that the National Midget series has raced with the Summer Nationals, which will bring the best of the best for the two types of racecars.

Leading the list of USAC Midgets into Lincoln will be series point leader Brady Bacon, from Broken Arrow, OK.  Bacon won back-to-back early season events at Kokomo Speedway which has helped boost him on top of the point list.  Spencer Bayston, is second in points and has some Lincoln experience over the last couple of years.  Shane Golobic, USAC National Sprint point leader Justin Grant, and Tyler Courtney complete the top five in standings.  Tanner Thorson, Chad Boat, Jerry Coons, Jr., and Tyler Thomas are other top ten point contenders that will be on hand.  Add in Zach Daum and veteran Dave Darland, who is the all-time wins leader in USAC sprints and you have an outstanding start to what will be a great field of entries.

Rounding out Sunday’s program will be the Summit Modified Nationals, which has already run 11 events since the start of the schedule June 14.  Leading the standings is a driver that fans at Lincoln Speedway is very familiar with, Kewanee, IL’s Ray Bollinger.  Bollinger leads Nick Hoffman, who won last year’s Summit Modified National championship by winning eight races.  The series takes each drivers best eight finishes, so Hoffman scored a perfect 100% in 2016.  Tyler Nicely, Mike McKinney, and Allen Weisser complete the top five in the current standings.  The series has already seen 168 different drivers in competition.

Pit gates open Sunday at 2:00, grandstands at 3:00, hotlaps will begin at 5:00, and racing will take the green at 6:00.  Grandstand admission is $30 while kids 11 and under are $5.
