Johnson & Luttrell Claim Lincoln Speedway Track Championships
(Lincoln, IL) The 2024 track championships have been decided in two of the staple divisions at Lincoln Speedway, following the Bennett Memorial Race, presented by Milwaukee Tool on August 23. Just one weekend of racing remains, the DIRTcar Fall Nationals, October 17-19 but only DIRTcar national points will be awarded.
In the DIRTcar Pro Late Model division at the track, Taylorville, IL driver, Braden Johnson has claimed his second straight Lincoln Speedway point championship. Johnson claimed one feature win on the season but was six-for-six in the top five category. For Johnson, it was his second straight championship at the track. Lincoln, IL’s Brandon Sweitzer had his best career season and finished second in points, while Blaise Baker, Curtis Eller, and Jacob Doolen rounded out the top five.
Riverton, IL’s Tim Luttrell took the top spot in the DIRTcar Modified standings at the speedway. Luttrell took one feature win and had six top fives in eight feature starts. Peoria, IL’s Mike Brooks was second in points, followed by Jared Thomas, Brian Lynn, and Jeff Graham.
Up next for the track will be the DIRTcar Fall Nationals, which is set for October 17-19, 2024. Thursday, October 17 will be a practice night, while Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 18 will be full race days. Friday classes are Super Late Models, Modifieds, Pro Mods, and Stock Cars, while Saturday’s classes are Super Late Models, Modifieds, Pro Mods, Stock Cars, and Pro Late Models.
