​Thorson Recovers from Flat Tire at Lincoln Speedway To Claim Win & Championship

Lincoln, IL– Tanner Thorson of Minden, Nevada recovered from a late race flat tire on a rubber-down Lincoln Speedway to win the Illinois SPEED Week finale with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series. By virtue of the win, Thorson also secured the POWRi Illinois SPEED Week championship. The 30 lap main was action packed right from the get go, as the previous night’s winner Carson Macedo got upside down on the opening lap in turn three. Macedo would be done for the night and racing would resume with a complete restart, led by Zach Daum. Daum narrowly edged Darren Hagen for the lead of lap one, but entering turn one on lap two, Hagen would spin around collecting Andrew Felker, Ryan Robinson, and Dayne Kingshott. Lynn, Daugherty, & Baugh Take Lincoln Victories On All-Star Sprint Night

While Sheldon Haudenschild took the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit Of Champions victory on Friday night, the other three Lincoln Speedway divisions put on a great show for the large crowd in the house. In the UMP Pro Late Model class, Cory Daugherty started up front and built a sizable advantage early on against a strong 16-car field.  With less than five to go, however, things really started to heat up and brought fans to the edges of their seats.  As Daugherty was closing on some slower traffic, the rest of the top five was closing on him.  With just a couple laps to go, the lead battle was hot with defending division champion, Nick Bauman and Jake Little looking for a way around him.  In the end, though, it was the Blue Mound, IL driver fending off the strong advances and racing to his first Pro Late Model win …

Speedway victory lane – Jason Brown Photo Credit) Sheldon Haudenschild Earns First Ever Arctic Cat All Star Win at Lincoln Speedway; Weekend action resumes at Wilmot Raceway LINCOLN, Illinois (May 20, 2016) – For the second time in as many starts, Wooster, Ohio’s Sheldon Haudenschild earned a trip to Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions victory lane, this time during a first ever appearance at the Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois. Haudenschild took advantage of a lap-17 restart to earn his position at the front of the field, driving around pole sitter Parker Price-Miller on a rubbered-up racing surface to clinch a second consecutive, $5,000, Arctic Cat All Star payday. ​Webb Captures $1,000 In Lincoln Speedway Hornet Challenge

Bauman Takes Big Ten Pro Late Model Opener Lincoln Speedway, in Lincoln, IL opened its gates for the third time in 2016 and did so with the best car count of the season.  Fields were full for the $1,000 to win Hornet challenge and the POWRi/Illini D-II Midgets presented by Nutech Seed.  The Pro Late Models were also on hand for their Midwest Big 10 Series opener in addition to Street Stocks and the Midwest Technical Institute Modifieds. Without question, the race of the night was the Hornet challenge.  With $1,000 on the line, some thought the race would be extremely rough, seeing a high number of cautions.  That was not the case at all.  With 23 cars taking the green flag, Adam Webb and Oscar Tipsword raced out front with Kenny Butterfield and Mike Eskew in tow.  Butterfield, who started sixth, moved into the second spot on just the …

Bell Rings Loudly At Lincoln IL Speedway

Strong Field Of Super Late Model Put On Fast Paced Show It was week #2 at Lincoln IL Speedway this past Friday, April 22 and the Super Late Models of the Midwest Big Ten Series were at the top of the card.  Joining them were the Midwest Big Ten Street Stocks, Midwest Technical Institute Modifieds, Sportsman, and Hornets.  Many of those in attendance came to see the Super Late Models and they did not disappoint. In Midwest Big Ten Super Late Model qualifying, Sheffield, IL driver Rich Bell bested a field of 22 wicked quick cars to set the fast lap of the night.  Bell’s lap of 14.147  was about a tenth quicker than the lap of Bob Gardner.  Brian Diveley, last year’s Big Ten champion, Ryan Unzicker, and Rick Salter rounded out the top five. ​Opening Night Thriller At Lincoln Speedway

Up Next, Super Late Models It was a new era of entertainment at Lincoln IL Speedway this past Friday, April 15, as Track Enterprises, a racing promotion company from Macon, IL, took the reins of the 1/4-mile oval at the Logan County Fairgrounds.  The 13th season opener for the speedway was a thriller with solid car counts and great racing. The race of the night came in the UMP Pro Late Model class.  When the feature took the green, Springfield, IL driver Matt Taylor raced out front and into the lead.  The familiar red and yellow #24T led comfortably throughout a major portion of the 20-lap grind.  Lap-after-lap, 2015-point champion Nick Bauman followed several car lengths behind.  As the white flag waved, Bauman started to track him down.  As the pair exited turn four, Bauman dropped to the lowside, got great bite, and pulled off a thrilling win by inches.  …
