Rico Races To MOWA Win At Lincoln Speedway

(Lincoln, IL) It was an absolutely picture perfect Friday night in Central Illinois the one and only visit of the Built Ford Tough MOWA Sprint Cars presented by Morrow Brothers at Lincoln Speedway.  The pits were packed, on Lincoln Courier night, with five divisions of racing and the fans saw a good show throughout the evening. 27 winged warriors of the Built Ford Tough MOWA Sprint Cars filled the pits with 22 stars making the A-Main event.  Fan favorites, Rico Abreu and Parker Price-Miller raced to the front of the 25-lap A-Main event with Abreu holding a pretty wheel.  Price-Miller wasn’t far behind, however, just waiting for a mistake to be made.  As the laps wound down, Abreu had his hands full, working heavy lapped traffic with Price-Miller hot on his heels.  In fact, a couple of times, Price-Miller edged ahead for the lead.  The race went green until the …

Vanapeldoorn Wins Ed Cain Trucking Hornet Challenge

(Lincoln, IL) The DIRTcar Hornets were the headlining division this past Friday night, June 7, as the 4th annual Ed Cain Trucking Hornet Challenge was on the card.  20+ of the best Hornet drivers in the country were on hand in addition to strong fields of Modifieds, Pro Lates, Pro Modifieds, and the Nutech Seed DII Midgets. Clinton, IL driver, Eric Vanapeldoorn, one of the favorites coming into Friday night’s event, picked up where he left off at last year’s Ed Cain Trucking Hornet Challenge, out front.  After winning his heat race, Vanapeldoorn claimed the six car dash before intermission.  That slated him on the pole of the 25-lap feature and the orange #77 continued to be too tough to tame for the competition.  The veteran driver raced out front early and never looked back to claim the win.  Wilmington, IL racer, Jake Momper, was pretty fast, keeping the #E77 …

Chasteen Takes Big Ten Super Late Opener At Lincoln Speedway

(Lincoln, IL) A talented field of Midwest Big Ten Super Late Model drivers gathered at Lincoln Speedway, in Lincoln, IL this past Friday, May 17 for their opening race of the 2019 season.  For Lincoln Speedway, it was the fourth race of the season and the first of two this year which will feature the high powered racecars. 2018 Summer Nationals champion, Brian Shirley, of Chatham, IL, was the favorite coming into the night.  He didn’t disappoint in qualifying, setting quick time over local favorite Myles Moos, former Big Ten champion Brian Diveley, Ryan Unzicker, and Mike Chasteen, Jr.  Heat race action saw Shirley and Unzicker claim the wins. When it came time for the feature, Shirley and Unzicker led the field to green.  Shirley raced out, while Unzicker tried to make a go of it in the outside lane.  The car to watch, though, was one that pulled in …

Bollinger Bests Strong Field Of Mods At Lincoln Speedway

(Lincoln, IL) Lincoln Speedway was able to endure heavy rainfall over the last seven days to race this past Friday night, May 3.  While many passed a number of fields covered in water from recent flooding, they arrived at Lincoln Speedway which was ready to go.  Fans got to see a good clean night of action with a solid field of cars. The top story of the night was the DIRTcar Modified turnout.  Some of the top Modified drivers in the Midwest made the trip as 24 competitors were pitside.  Fifteen locked in through heat races while an additional five came through the last chance.  When the green dropped on the 20-lap A-Main, it was Kewanee, IL’s Ray Bollinger racing into the lead with polesitter, Brian Lynn dropping into second.  Retired NASCAR star, Kenny Wallace, made the trip from water logged St. Louis, MO and was running third early on.  …

Pozsgai Takes 305 Sprint Checkers In Front Of Hometown Fans

Large Fields Of Cars Race On Lincoln Speedway’s Second Night (Lincoln, IL) Fan appreciation night had a large turnout of fans and drivers this past Friday, April 26 at Lincoln Speedway.  The night, presented by Kitchen Cooked Chips, had plenty of great races with a home favorite ending up in victory lane during the night’s Sprint car feature. In the first of two appearances this season for the 305 Winged Sprint Cars, Lincoln, IL driver, Max Pozsgai jumped out front early on in the 18-lap feature.  Pozsgai, who grew up in Lincoln, was the fan favorite coming into the event.  Pozsgai started on the pole of the feature event, after garnering the most passing points in the heat races.  He didn’t have a cakewalk in the feature, as Robbie Standridge followed closely, in fact, looking to make a move on a couple of occasions.  In the end, though, Pozsgai won …

Macon Speedway, Lincoln Speedway, and Big Ten Champions Honored This Past Weekend

(Decatur, IL) Drivers, teams, officials, and fans converged in Central Illinois this past weekend for the 2018 Champion Awards Banquet at the Decatur Conference Center & Hotel in Decatur, IL.  Top finishers from the previous season were awarded trophies and checks for the success that they had at Macon Speedway, Lincoln Speedway, and the Midwest Big Ten Series.  A large turnout was on hand, the food was great, and a good time was had as it was the first time the two tracks had a combined banquet. Taking home the most hardware was Springfield, IL driver, Guy Taylor.  The second generation driving veteran took top honors in the Pro Late Model division for the Big Ten Series, Macon Speedway, and Lincoln Speedway.  Taylor had one win and five top fives at Lincoln to go along with two Big Ten wins and six Macon victories.
