Fan Appreciation & Kids Night On Tap Friday

$5 Admission For Fans With Coupons From Lincoln Area Businesses

With the Logan County Fair in the rearview mirror, the roar of race engines will be back on track this coming Friday, August 12 at the Lincoln IL Speedway 1/4-mile.  On tap is a Fan Appreciation and Kids Night, featuring $5 admission (with voucher), Sally The Clown, free goody bags for kids, and five divisions of fast paced racing action.

Headlining the list of divisions will be the Pro Late Models and Street Stocks, both racing under the Midwest Big Ten Series banner.  In the Pro Late Model class, Springfield, IL driver, Guy Taylor, has been on fire as of late, winning the last two Lincoln features and last three main events at Macon Speedway.  Jake Little leads the Pro Late Model standings at Lincoln, with Roben Huffman and Brandon Eskew completing the top three.  In the Big Ten Series, Guy Taylor has won the last two but his brother, Matt, still sits atop the points with an eight point advantage over Huffman.

For the Street Stocks, it will be their fourth Lincoln Speedway visit this season and for the second time, a Big Ten event.  Earlier this year, Decatur, IL driver, Dave Crawley, Jr. took the Lincoln Big Ten victory, with Jeremy Nichols, and Terry Reed completing the top three.  Kyle Waters and Nichols have won the other Street Stock features at the track this year.  The Big Ten points are led by Nichols, who has claimed the last two wins at Jacksonville and the Christian County Fair, and Reed, who was last champion.  The two are tied at the top.  Just four points behind is Crawley.

The UMP Modifieds, POWRi Illini D-II Midgets presented by Nutech Seed, and UMP Hornets will also be running this Friday night.  Those three classes had some great races at the most recent race on July 29.  The Mods, especially, put on a stellar show, having a stout field and tough battles throughout the field.  The D-II Midgets have been solid all season and the Hornets have undoubtedly seen a resurgence at the track with 16 on hand in the recent event.

On a side note, the POWRi/Illini D-II Midgets presented by Nutech Seed have a Conklin Agrovantage Challenge of $1,000 on the line for this Friday night’s event.  If one of the top four starters elect to start at the tail and can come through with a victory, the bonus money is theirs.

While grandstand admission is set for $12 this week, thousands of $5 vouchers have been handed out to race fans and are available at businesses in the Lincoln Speedway area.  Don’t forget to stop by one of the following businesses to grab a voucher for $5 admission.  Vouchers are available at Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Lincoln Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Graue Chevrolet, Casey’s of Lincoln, Warrensburg, and Mt. Pulaski, Beck’s Gas Station, Jim Xamis Ford, Auto Zone, 4 Corner Lube, Best Western, Culvers, Collision Concept, Arby’s, Dotty’s, Neal Tire & Auto, Wendy’s, Chicago St Rentals, 5th Street Market, Jake’s Furnishings, Iron Mountain, Rio Grande, The Courier, Sherwin Williams, Discount Tobacco, NAPA, Charron’s Auto Repair, and Regions Bank.

Pit gates open at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, competitor pill draw will end at 6:00, hotlaps begin at 6:20, and racing will take the green at 7:00.
